We want to reward you for using Texas OnCourse to support your students! Have you heard? We have a pair of contests running for the Academy: one for high school educators and one for middle school educators. For a limited time, earn a badge that supports your advising or instruction work with students, and you can be eligible to win a $25 or $50 Amazon gift card.

Details are below, with links you should check out for more information. Have questions? Keep scrolling to see if we’ve answered them.

Middle school educators

We know you’re doing important work to support your students on endorsements and graduation planning. If you earn one of two badges relevant to your work in the Texas OnCourse Academy, your name will automatically be entered into a drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card. Share your accomplishment on social media, and you can qualify to win a $50 Amazon gift card.

The badges included in the contest are Middle School College and Career and Academic Planning. You need to earn the badges between October 15 and November 27, 2019, to qualify.

High school educators

We know you’re doing important work to support seniors on college planning and financial aid. If you earn one of two badges relevant to your work in the Texas OnCourse Academy, your name will automatically be entered into a drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card. Share your accomplishment on social media, and you can qualify to win a $50 Amazon gift card.

The badges included in the contest are Admission and Application Process and Financial Aid Application Process. We updated these badges in July with new content, creating a version 2 of both badges. You need to have earned version 2 to be eligible for this contest.

Common Questions

Can I enter both contests?

Our goal, as always, is to ensure that Texas students are able to make the best decisions about their future from middle school to high school and beyond. If the content of the modules in both of these contests directly supports your work with students – if you support students on endorsements and applications and financial aid – we encourage you to enter both contests. If you don’t support both middle schoolers on endorsements and high schoolers on applications, admissions, and financial aid, we encourage you to pass along the contest information relevant to your colleagues.

I thought I already earned the Admission and Application Process or Financial Aid Application Process badge, but it’s not showing.

In July, we released new content critical to student advising. Because of this, we’ve created version 2 of the badges associated with these modules. To check to see if you earned version 1 of these badges, click on “View my badges and certificates” on the Academy dashboard, then click on the Badges tab, then click “See older badge versions.” Note that you will need to earn version 2 of the Admission and Application Process badge or the Financial Aid Application Process badge to be eligible for the high school contest.

The finer details

Winners will be announced the week following Thanksgiving. If you earn both badges in either contest, your name will be automatically entered twice for the $25 gift card. If you earn both badges and share both on social media, your name will be automatically entered twice for the $50 gift card.

Please note, the prize limit for each individual is $50, and we will select a separate winner for each contest. Current Texas OnCourse leader fellows are not eligible to receive prizes.
