Submitting a Financial Aid Appeal during COVID-19

Many of your students have likely experienced changes to their personal and family income. These changes can affect expected family contribution, so your students may need help submitting a financial aid appeal during COVID-19.

Students can submit financial aid appeals at any time throughout their college journey. This paperwork can be a bureaucratic hassle, though, making it less likely that your students will persist in submitting such appeals.

We recently learned about a new resource that we want to share with you. SwiftStudent is a free app that makes the financial aid appeal process easier for college-bound students.

So, how does it work? Students can visit SwiftStudent to work through the following process:

  1. Learn about eligibility
  2. Use a free template to write an appeal letter
  3. Print and take the letter to their financial aid office
  4. Wait for the school to accept or reject their request

SwiftStudent is completely free to students and financial aid offices, with no sign-up required. It does not share or sell student information. Educators can download posters, fliers, and PowerPoint slides to educate their students (and colleagues!) about the financial aid appeal process.

Financial aid during COVID-19 can seem scary, but this app makes the ride a whole lot smoother! Be sure to learn more about guiding your students through paying for college during COVID-19.
