Digital Learning Opportunities for Educators

On March 10, we hosted an informational session focused on how educators can use statewide data tools to support student outcomes and strengthen college and career advising.  Sharon Wong from the THECB shared information on the Texas Talent Trajectory (T3) Dashboard, TEA’s Katie Jubert offered key details on the college, career, and military readiness (CCMR) tracker and how it can verify internal data, and TxCAN’s Kendra Strange highlighted three interactive public data dashboards that give educators insights on FAFSA completion and direct-to-college enrollments.

THECB Data Resources

Sharon Wong joined our session to discuss data resources the THECB is providing educators across the state. Wong introduced DataBridge, which features the Texas Talent Trajectory (T3) Dashboard and other dashboards on enrollment, completions, transfers, credentials of value, and student debt within the T3 8th grade cohorts. The T3 Dashboard tracks academic progress from 8th grade through postsecondary education using National Student Clearinghouse, TEA, and THECB data. Outcomes are tracked for 11 years, including the last year of middle school, 4 years of high school, and 6 years of higher education. The dashboard can empower educators, policymakers, and stakeholders to make data-driven, informed decisions.

The CCMR Tracker

TEA’s Katie Jubert gave an overview of the CCMR tracker and announced that Part I will be released in early April. The tracker includes demographic information on all students enrolled in grades 9–12 and lists whether they’ve achieved each CCMR indicator. The tracker can assist educators with verifying internal data and previewing which data will be used in accountability ratings. It uses lagging data and information from Texas Success Initiative Assessment results and Texas Student Data System’s Public Education Information Management System reporting data, as well as SAT, ACT, and OnRamps completion through the 2024–25 school year. Educators can download this information and share it with colleagues after requesting and gaining access from the TEAL Help desk.

TxCAN Data Dashboards

TxCAN’s Kendra Strange explored the three data dashboards TxCAN offers, which capture FAFSA Completion, Direct-to-College Enrollment, and Texas Graduate Earnings by Degree. The dashboards can increase transparency around Texas’ college access data and help the state reach its postsecondary attainment goals. Built using Microsoft Power BI, the interactive dashboards let users filter and compare data. To find the dashboards, visit Texas College Access and scroll to the bottom of the home page. Below is a screenshot of the FAFSA completion dashboard comparing different completion percentages amongst Education Service Center regions.
