Hello, educators! On September 9, we hosted an inspiring session highlighting how My Texas Future and Direct Admissions are helping students take charge of their postsecondary journeys. Daniela Carrillo from THECB joined us to share insights on My Texas Future’s core values and spotlight key tools like the Career Explorer, which allows users to explore over 1,000 job titles by career name, cluster, salary range, and more! This is our session recap:
My Texas Future Core Values:My Texas Future is designed to help Texans explore their interests and discover regional in-demand careers. In addition to exploring career options, users can identify college programs that lead to careers of interest and access step-by-step college and career action plans. The platform empowers Texans to begin researching education and career opportunities early, setting a strong foundation for future success. Middle and high school students, as well as adult learners, can create a My Texas Future account to begin discovering career paths that align with their goals and interests.
My Texas Future Key Features:
My Texas Future offers an abundance of features to help Texans tackle the stress of postsecondary planning. Students can use interest and skills quizzes to pinpoint which career path is best suited for them and access College and Career Action Plans for step-by-step guidance. The Program Explorer allows students to research college programs by area of study, location, degree type, and cost per year, making it easier to find options that meet their career goals.
Direct Admissions:
Direct Admissions allows seniors to see admissions offers in just a few steps! Students can start the process by opting in to share their academic information such as class rank, test scores, GPA, and graduation plans with participating schools. Once they have opted in, they can see a list of admissions offers. Students must submit an application and supporting documents (transcripts and score reports) to receive an official offer, and admission offers are reflective of admission to an institution, not any specific major. Below is an image of all the current participating institutions:
Tiny Takes:
