Digital Learning Opportunities for Educators

Hello educators! We had a wonderful session on September 10 discussing the SAT, ACT, and TSIA2. During this webinar, staff from the College Board, ACT, and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board showcased the latest updates and procedures regarding college readiness assessments, including an announcement from ACT that 59 universities have reinstated the use of standardized test scores including UT Austin. Here’s a brief recap of the session:

SAT:

Did you know that 72% of graduates in the class of 2023 took the SAT at least once while in high school? Great job, educators! College Board is working to help your students further by introducing the BigFuture mobile app which allows your students to check their exam scores and form connections with higher education institutions across the country.

ACT:

Starting in April of 2025, the ACT exam will be offered online, and it will include fewer items and shorter passages which will provide more time for students to answer questions. Testing time will also be shorter, and students can choose to take the science section for additional flexibility. ACT has additional resources including a counselor toolkit designed to support you and your students throughout the school year.

TSIA2:

Great news, educators! Effective September 9, 2024, TSI Assessment test administrators may administer standalone ELAR test components to high school students. We also want to remind you that a graduate must meet TSI college readiness standards in both reading/language arts (RLA) and mathematics to receive CCMR credit.

Stay tuned for our next blog post that will cover our next professional learning session on Advising Students with Disabilities. We hope to see you there!
