Texas College Bridge: A Holistic Online Program for College Prep

Posted by Allison Rizzolo, Texas OnCourse on Aug 25, 2020 12:50:52 PM

In 2018, 121,000 Texas students graduated without demonstrating college, career, or military readiness. That number will likely be even higher in 2020 due to the effects of COVID-19. Students have been unable to take the ACT, SAT, or TSIA, or they may not have finished college prep courses given the limited ability of these courses to deliver remote instruction.

This year, TEA, Texas OnCourse, and College Forward have joined forces to generate a set of college readiness resources to meet this challenge. These resources provide holistic support to help your students become college ready despite the unique challenges this year presents. Be sure not to miss your free advising guide, a critical component for you in guiding your juniors and seniors to postsecondary success!

Texas College Bridge

Our partners at TEA quickly recognized that students need access and an opportunity to complete an online course that supports college readiness in English and math. The result is Texas College Bridge, an online college prep curriculum packaged in a self-paced format for students.

Texas College Bridge is free for districts. It is an individualized learning platform that builds students’ knowledge in math and English. The platform also includes an educator dashboard for teachers and advisers to provide feedback, review student progress, and set up virtual meetings to guide and support students to success.

College and Career Support from Texas College Bridge

Texas College Bridge also includes College and Career Support, a component from College Forward that guides students through the college planning and application process. College and Career Support includes five units dedicated to topics such as career exploration, choosing a school, paying for college, and college applications.

We also developed a new guide to aid your advising efforts with students participating in the Texas College Bridge College and Career Support program. The guide includes recommended Academy modules, webinars, and blog articles aligned to the college and career support topics your students will be learning during their College and Career Support experience.
